You know it's time to turn up the heat when...

I am cheap. I don't like to pay the high electric bills that come with the heating bills in the winter. So, last night I was curled up on the couch with my laptop in sweat pants, a t-shirt under a sweatshirt, warm socks and wrapped in a blanket. Buddy was curled next to me. I got up to go to the kitchen to get something warm to drink and this is what I saw...

Poor guy. I checked the thermostat and saw that it was 65 degrees, so I upped the temp a bit.

Poor cat.

We like to keep the house a little cool because it's the only time the cat will snuggle with us. :)

I love that we live in Army quarters and thus it doesn't cost me a dime to crank the heat up when I am cold...But if they had splurged on slightly better windows and insulation, I wouldn't be turning the thermostat up to 75. Not for long though, because I cannot stand overheated buildings. Just long enough to get the chill out of the air.

At night though, it has to be cool. At night the thermostat is set to 65, which means it is cooler than that in our bedroom. The dogs do not seem to appreciate that. Mark is gone (back in a couple days, YAY!) and when he is gone, the dogs sleep on the bed with me, and I have noticed that they stay curled up in tight balls against me all night. Usually they get hot and sprawl, but not lately. Mojo has learned "move", which generally results in him getting up, sighing very heavily, and then flopping down a few inches closer to the side of the bed. But now "move" results in him sitting up and then laying down again, on top of my legs. I want him to give up his nice warm spot, but no dice. He tries to lay back down right where he was.

Stupid dogs.

I don't know, it's hard to feel sorry for someone(thing) wearing a fur coat. :)
